V. Valiant volunteers.

Valiant volunteer Tim Warner
at the launch of the Alwyn Tamo - 19 March 2011
Vera is very interested in volunteering with the Volunteer Marine Rescue. She has a voracious appetite for learning all she can about her vivacious hero Alwyn Tamo who was a visionary and vigilant in her determination to value the lives of all people revving around on Westernport Bay.

The vistas around Victoria are very dangerous, but the volunteers are valiant! They give up their time without pay and may come across scenes of violent destruction, which they tackle with visible determination and bounce back with vim and vigour.

Occasionally they become vexed with some vessel owners, but they're never vindictive.
The chaplain from HMAS Cerberus is part of the official party.
Launch of the Alwyn Tamo - 19 March 2011
The Alwyn Tamo can navigate Bass Strait
(a notoriously treacherous stretch of water).
On a sunny day at low tide, looking towards The Heads from Sorrento -
ie. towards the entrance to Port Phillip Bay.

A Drabble is a story told in 100 words No more, no less.

Here tomorrow: W: Weirdo

Over at traverselife, I'm spending the month looking at different aspects of bullying.

Great Pictures, Sue. That coast line picture makes me homesick for when we lived in Florida.
I can't believe the end of the month is almost here. In looking back it went very fast and was a lot of fun.

baygirl, thanks. I suspect you love the beach too ;)
Manzanita, now we're getting towards the end, it seems to be rushing. I'll be glad it's over though - apart from missing your posts and the fabulous videos you're including! Love them :D
kmckendry, Beaches banish the blues! I still make sandcastles ;)

Hi Sue .. great V word .. and volunteers are so essential in all walks of life .. but the sea can be so treacherous, while people can be quite 'stupid' and get themselves into all sorts of scrapes.

Love the new rescue ship .. do you help out there?

Cheers - have a good week .. and I too love the pictures - it's good to see other parts of the world .. Hilary

Great drabble! I have so much admiration and appreciation for those volunteers. My hometown has a volunteer fire department and they are so necessary. YAY for volunteers!

(those pics are gorgeous--you live in a beautiful place)

Kathy, I've had fun (mostly) writing the drabbles.
Hart, volunteer fire fighters are amazing - I wrote about ours back in February as a tribute to their amazing efforts on Black Saturday.(massive bush fires here)
Robyn, I think this is one instance when my photos do the beauty of this area justice :) YAY for volunteers!!
Misha, these blokes and women are wonderful, and they love their volunteering.
Arlee, can you imagine what it's like inside my brain? It's kind of mushy after nearly a month of this!
Talli, Thakyou, I'm glad you like the photos. Good on the Vollies!!
San, thankyou :)

I think we all agree: (and this is said in a broad Aussie accent) GO VOLLIES!!
